Oh, Robin, I'm so sorry for the loss of Henrietta. Why, oh why, is it always the favorites?? Rest assured, it will be back and it does sound like an old possum. Be prepared.

Have you found the point of entry? You might get a chance to get this predator when it tries again on night 2, your BEST chance...it will be arrogant.

I'm also sorry to hear the news.... this must have been quite a shock.

You didn't mention the set-up you have. I know you'll lock the door to the coop, but possums and most other critters are quite proficient at digging under to get at the hens. Do you have some wire around the coop, also? Down about a foot, and out a bit seems to work the best.

Good luck! The opossum will be back, and I hope you're able to catch it.
