I Love MONTANA!

Thanks, ghickman9 for the tip on the poultry show! That sounds like a lot of fun! My birds won't be for show, but I can just imagine all of the extraordinary ones I'll be able to see in Hamilton!

Fortunately, just about everybody I've met here in Montana has been so warm and welcoming. It really is quite humbling and gives me a renewed sense of hope for the human race. This is a beautiful state with gorgeous, wide open country spaces that are full of kind folks, most of whom do not hold a good person's hatching place against 'em!

Thanks again for the tip about the show! It's nice to meet you all!

I am coming to the show.

I will only bring a few birds though, my main interest is that they are having an auction and I will be bringing some hatching eggs and chicks.

Anyone else coming to the show? I want to order a BYC t-shirt so we can meet each other.

I'll be there Jean. I'll probably be wearing my tan Montana Poultry Fanciers Association ball cap. I see on your picture here that you have a Faverolle? I have one hen I got last fall and my wife really likes her. She's got a great personality and has been fairly prolific layer. Now I'm looking for another one or two, especially a cockerel, so we can make a few more of our own. Don't know what birds I'm going to bring since they've mostly gone in to moult or are setting eggs, or brooding chicks. Plan was to bring some Belgian d'Anver and Dutch bantams, also a Golden Laced Wyandotte large fowl (she's one that is setting a clutch of eggs now, so she's out). I'll have to wait another week to see who is still in good feather. See you in Hamilton.

I have amerauanas. Mine are mostly in breeding pens right now, so they will not be of very good feather either.

I have a young bird and a couple of roosters that look ok and I will probably bring them.

See you there.

I love Montana too! I was born and raised in Havre. Now my family and I live 10 minutes out of Conrad. Any one know where the heck that is!?? We are new to chickens. Just started in March, but we are really enjoying them. We incorperated our coop into our front yard just this last weekend. It looks great and we can watch the girls in their run while we BBQ or I can see them from my kitchen window! We started with 12, unfortunatley we lost one the other day

We have 8 more coming from MPC at the end of the month:) I hadnt heard of the show in Hamilton but I am def going to check into that. Sounds like a great time to me! Have a happy day all you Montanans and everyone else reading this!

I'm in Helena Montana. Hey ghickman, did you just get some banty hatching eggs from a lady in Kalispell? Thanks for the info on the upcoming shows:cool:

NE Wyoming here (Rozet actually), and new to chickens. We are in our third week of a batch from Cackle Hatchery. Nice people.

We lost a few the day they showed up and a few more the next morning and the fine folks at Cackle were only too happy to send a new shipment.

In addition to chickens we got a pair of geese and ducks and a few turkeys. So this should be fun.

We raised chickens and turkeys a few years ago when we lived in Casper, things got hectic for a few years, so now we're back to it.

I'm glad I found this site, it's going to be invaluable.
