I love my little fella....17 week old Thor

Since Splash is really blue and blue is really genetically black, then you may get the same color types as Blue Orp/Buff Brahma, but with a single comb. Glenda has the yellowish legs of the Brahma, but yours would have white legs. Could be that they'd look like some of my Meg's kids she's produced with Suede, since she is 1/2 Buff Orp and 1/2 RIR.

I do have Glenda, whose mama is a Buff Brahma and whose daddy is Suede. The girls are solid black or blue with lightly feathered legs (usually) and the males are black or blue with lots of buff/gold in their wings and hackles. They are HUGE cockerels, too. Glenda really looks like a black Brahma, has a decent pea comb, is very sweet and a good broody. She's larger than her mama, Caroline.

Funny thing about the Lt Brahma....Cyn has tried with Suede (Thor's blue daddy) and Miranda (Cyn's Lt Brahma) the eggs are fertile but they never fully develop or never start to develop. It would be interesting to see if a Suede offspring could cross with a LB. Ask Cyn about it...she is better in the breeding knowledge than me by far.

Well, my head is positively spinning at the possibilities!

Sounds like there's no end to what the babies could look like. But, so long as they come out healthy, happy and eventually produce lovely eggs, or to be nice tempered sweet roos, what care I for what they look like! I'm just totally enamoured with the thought of hatching out my own wee little tots!

Serrin, it is an experience. I bought my Genesis just for the Suede eggs. Glad I did because my broody would not take them (Psycho wench). It was an awesome experience. Although I probably drove CYn crazy with "what's this? What does this mean? etc etc"

Here is a Blue Orp/Buff Brahma cross cockerel who was Glenda's brother, Caroline's son, hatched at the same time. He's quite a tank, isn't he? His new owner called him Sherman. I like the Orp/Brahma cross. In the last pic, that is Gypsy in the front. See how the Orp/Brahma boy towers above the pure Orps?

So, does this mean, Cetawin and Cyn, that I can count on you two fine ladies to hold my hand this coming spring and talk me through the whole process, from start to hatch, through all of the questions (and I promise you, there will be MANY I'm sure) all the fretting, all the panic attacks, and we'll still all be friends?

I'm really hoping I can pull this off. Between building the house and everything else, it might not be the very best of times for me to dive into hatching my own babies. But, procrastination never got me where I wanted to be.

No time like the near future, is there?

Serrin, if Cyn is still my friend after all the ridiculous calls she got from me when the eggs were hatching.....OMG of course I will repay the kindness and tell you what I know and I am a good one for late calls and panic attacks in the middle of the night because I am usually up till some ungodly hour.

This should tell you what I was like...look at these, pictures of everything and even had a sign on the eggs for anyone who came in the house. The family was afraid to go into the kitchen for 22 days!

Cyn, I like those crosses. They are pretty. I still love your barred blue crosses. Serrin have you seen those> Her Blue Ameracuana (sp?) and Barred Rock crosses? OMG they are so gorgeous.

Aaaah, but what a wonderful way to pass the time, waiting for spring. Right along with pouring over my seed catalogues! Which I do while waiting for this slow, clunky old computer to load pictures!
