My broody hens have there chicks out on day three.You dont have to wait seven week's.

We have an English Shepard and she is awesome with all or critters.
Just be sure if you get and older pup or adult that is has been well socialized with chickens and children.
Otherwise, go with a puppy and train it well.

Any Breed of Dog is fine as long as it's trained properly...
I have a Golden Retriever/Aussie cross that chases anything and everything off my Property...She is fantastic at keeping Fox and Coyotes away...Also all the Crows and Ravens..I also have a Maremma LGD who lays close to my Birds as they free range, nothing gets past him...Then I have a Yorkie who is my nightly Bird wrangler and helps herd all the Birds back in for the night...

All Dogs love a job to do .....

Australian Shepherd ... or border collie ... I'd say either of them. They don't like just being pet dogs, they like having jobs

My Hen Has Chicks that are 10 days old...She has them outside foraging all day long...They have been out with the flock since they were 5 days old....Your Chicks are beyond ready to begin a life of a Chicken...You will need to provide some type of shade for them....

Thank you! you know, that's one of my concerns: they love to "indoor forage" but I know they will be so happy foraging outside!

Yes, cut those apron strings and get them outside to be Chickens....Everyone will be happy and the Chicks will cuddle at night to be warm....

how interesting! I'm so glad I asked the question. They really seem ready to go out. Ive let them walk around outside before and can tell they are super happy scratching, foraging, sunbathing

But, they still need a brooder for a while without a mama. They need some sort of heat.

No they don't .....Lock them in the coop at night with shavings on the floor...A lot tougher than you think...
