I made a stupid mistake!!! Are the eggs ok???

When you adjust the temperature up or down on an LG, also, you should almost not feel the dial move. It takes a very very fine adjustment to bump it the degree or two that you need. I found that my LGs only appeared to be perfectly stable using the alcohol thermometers they come with, too. A digital thermometer reveals that they fluctuate between a high and low end. I try to keep my high end at 102 at the most and the low end...I worry if it gets lower than 98 or 99.

Next hatch, I am going to add some flat rocks to the bottom of the incubator and let them warm up before I add in eggs. I've heard that helps the temperatures. I will also get spikes, btw, almost immediately after I set eggs in my LGs.

I know...the dial is VERY sensivive! I've gotten a little better at adjusting it. I made hubby SWEAR not to touch it when I left! I had images of him trying to help and really throwing it off!

That's what I use to measure temperature and almost everything else. Fluke meters. Of course, it helps that I have a selection of about a dozen of the suckers since my dad spent 39 years designing IC's for them as the principal R&D engineer. Unfortunately, now that my dad had to retire, the entire R&D section in the US has pretty much been scratched except for military applications.

When I was using an LG in a clasroom once, after the temp was adjusted, we duct taped a Styrofoam cup over the knob so there couldn't be any accidents.

I have 2 Little Giants. One, with egg-turner, which I plan to use for incubating, and one, without turner, that I will use for a hatcher. They are BOTH "forced-air". I have added knobs from an old radio to the adjustment stems of the electronic thermostats to make them EASIER TO ADJUST.

It seems to help in moving the adjustment by "small increments". I'm currently testing them for temperature stability and humidity.

When I'm satisfied, I'll try to hatch 12-20 eggs (depending on what I have available at that time.)
