I need a restraining order!!!

You don't need your dad to help with that. Where there is a will, there is a way. You want to show your parents that you are willing to do whatever to keep these chickens, take on the project of cleaning out the shed. You might need his help for a few items but start with the small things and ask him to help specific larger things, that you CANNOT move by yourself and then tell him thank you for his help but that you have it now. If he wants to help let him but don't require his help to start. You can move a lot of things without his help. Just try. It will show your parents you CAN be responsible for what you want.

Yet who is paying for it. Who is allowing the chickens there in the first place. It's your parents home, their land, and their money that pays the food bill. Your parents are being very generous. Sounds like it's time to say thank you not "I want more". Of course you can want all you want, but show your appreciation for what you have. You'll score big points. In fact 45 birds; are you selling eggs? You could pay for the feed yourself with that many eggs to sell. That would score you even more points and a possible yes on more birds.

Yes they are I know. I am greatful for what they do. My Mom said to get a new coop ( or clean out the old one out but that is way to much work they are in a 45 or 50 year old shed.) before we get more but I need my Dad to help with that but we have been very busy lately.

Yep this time of year is always busy. We are up to our ears with projects. It could take time to get it done. But this is what your mom is saying you need to do. Blow her mind and clean out that old coop. If it just needs some good reinforcement you can watch craigslist for materials and keep the cost down (parents love that). You'll feel great at your accomplishment and again you will score points.

45 chickens take the advice of EweSheep, sell some. Sell them to your friends, that way you can still see them when you visit. Hun to let you have 45 chickens your parents are awesome.

Even as an adult we would love to have more and more chickens but we know that we have to limit ourselves, other wise it could get ugly!! Good Luck! Please realize how lucky you are!!

OIC, well are they all bantams? Just out of curiosity what breeds are you wanting to add to your lovely collection? Do you have pictures that you can post of your chickens?

i am a little jealous, i only have 12 and my dh is threatening to smack me if i bring home more lol.

and my parents never let me have a single chicken even though we lived on a farm. darn them.

I wasn't able to get chickens till I was 40, and I grew up on a farm too. In fact I'm back on the same farm now with over 150 chickens, plus ducks, turkeys, geese and one odd guinea hen. Patience is a good thing.
