Good Afternoon! I need some advice. This 6 week old chick here-YES-this chick is 6 weeks old and HALF if not a third the size of my other 6 week old chicks??? Can someone tell me what to expect with this situation because as far as I can tell the chick is quite healthy other then it's size. Good appitiete, drinks well, poop looks ok. Now, as I had fearded and should have acted in time, the 21 other chicks that are so much bigger must have trampled him / her??? Anybody know? And injured a leg. I then (sigh) put said chick in nice sized dog cage in coop with a broody-not in same cage lol So, this is what I REALLY want advice on. I know this chick is SOOO lonely. She is stuck in a cage in a coop with a silent angry broody hen. I have taken her out and put her in a brooder but i can just leave her alone because my adults free range most of the day and we all know how nosy they are lol So I feel like I have 3 options.
1. get a like 3-4 week old duck from store and put it in with said chick for buddie
2. start integrating this chick with my adult flock now-well when chicks leg is completely better. It's getting there. As you can see chick can stand on it now and hold the weight but still wobbly. My adult chickens are pretty nice but they are hens and hens do peck! lol And 1 rooster.
3. I have 5 2 month old bantams that I am NOT free ranging-at least at this point I could put chick in with but is that even an option??? These are my first bantams.
Today i brought chick in house so it wouldn't be lonely and could actually move around. Honey will not be happy! lol
Please-advice advice advice! (I apologize for duplicate pics-don't know how to take off)
