I need an intervention...

Well I caved…I added 2 more "Americauna's" and 1 light Brahma and that's it! I am done LOL. When I got home I realized one of the Americauna's doesn't have a beard :( which is what I loved…But nevertheless….I will love it just the same! And now I'm done…No more Chicks!

That's right. Stand firm. No more chicks till next year! What, that's not what they said?

Oh i know I need to stand firm. I'm already wanting to go back for one more bearded beauty. And then while I'm there I should get maybe get another brahma. I don't know. Hmm. Or maybe I should just love the ones I've got! I do think that one of my BR's is a roo, so I think, knowing my luck, I'll have another or two (which I won't keep) do I need to replenish to stock right?

I am in Sheridan too! Newbie as well. Two Buff Orpingtons.

......and the addiction!

Last year, I ordered 10 broilers, and 10 layers, then DH comes home from work, looks at the booklet and the next morning I'm calling to add to my order, I currently have 21 layers, and a rooster in the coop, 12 Americaunas (EE's) in the basement, which are 3-4 days old, and 60 broilers on order for April, DH will be bringing a second coop (shed) up for the broilers. Some of us just like to jump in with both feet as soon as we get our toes wet.

I'm hoping to get mostly pullets out of my EE's because at 6.50 each, that is a very expensive chicken dinner, yes I am a meat eater, and the local hatchery (Rochester Hatchery is based in my town) can't sex EE's at a day old, and I believe very firmly in shopping local.

Yes, hmm... does anyone else flirt with the idea of having more than one coop in their suburban backyard? I reeeeally want to start a bantam coop after seeing the bantam bin at TSC the other day. Husband nixed that idea. Hmph. :-(
