I need answers ASAP. Tyson has a huge chicken barn across the street from me, they told me to get r

I really dont think this is your problem. They can not control what their neighbors do, unless there is some kind of dictatorship around there. If that were true, nobody would be able to raise Tyson chickens. The world is not a vaccuum. What about neighbors on the other side of them? Or across the street from them?

Unless you have been legally told you can't have chickens, you can keep them and enjoy them.

I agree...

Oh boy. I just read this entire thread, and I'm almost speechless.

Almost.

I can see both sides. But as a chicken lover, I would stress that you have as much of a right to your chickens as he has to his, even though you haven't had them as long as the neighbor has had his Tyson contact. Your neighbor is probably sweating bullets over this, fearful that overlooking this detail in the sales contact will cost him his business with Tyson.

You have a strong position. But you definitely should NOT attempt a negotiation without an attorney! You need to examine how much your chickens mean to you and if you might be willing to give them up for a monetary settlement. Be completely sure of your limits before entering into any talks.

I commend you for wanting to keep this amicable, but it's very doubtful it will remain so once all the legalities are examined. One of you will end up giving up a lot. But, keep in mind that you did not cause this problem. Your neighbor brought this on himself with his hurry to sub-divide and sell without thoroughly thinking things through.

Good luck. Now go hire a good lawyer.

There are many reasons why it could have happen that way, I think i read that the husband was sick when they sold the house maybe they had a lot on there mind, I don't think I would spend the money on a lawyer over this but that is something you will have to think about. Sit down and talk to your neighbor and get all the facts.

Is it possible that THEY couldn't raise chickens when they were there because they were also raising chickens for Tyson, and they mistakenly think there can be no chickens there at all?

by having them help you move the coop and pen, adding water and electricty, and coming to an agreement as to where to put your coop, and how to get back and fourth to it, you may work this out perfectly fine, yeah they will not be close to the house, but if they pay for everything you could still be fine and on good terms. do the math, cost and such, lety them know your willing to do as they asked if they can help you with whats needed. it will be a win win :)

I would not get rid of you pets I would tell them to bad so sad for them. I have strange neighbors to. I live on a private trail and when we moved in 15 years ago we had people on the trail who don't even live here full them do work on the trail putting rocks down and grading it, which by the way messed up the trail. Anyway they would come to us and ask for money saying we had to chip in. These people are just nuts. Some people.......
