here are some photos of mine.
it is 8 ft long
has two levels that are 18 inches high, and one area that is 3 ft high at the end (on top) for when i have bigger chicks in there and they want to jump or roost.
it is 18 inches deep.
I will eventually put some real doors on it that have fine window screening so the chicks wont toss the wood chips everywhere... but for now i just have cheap plasic netting that hooks onto some screws to close.
a pic of some young bantams in there. silkies and ameraucanas:
makeshift roost made from a cane. it just wedges in there:
Ameraucanas moved out of the top, and now I have silkies in there with some marans chicks
my favorite things about this design:
-it's slim, so it's easy to reach the chicks
-because of the vertical beams inside, i can easily put up partitions to separate younger and older chicks
soon i will have this thing FULL of chicks... I have 13 eggs in the bator + adding 42 to that this weekend.
