I need hatching support

Pics
I'll definitely have more pics as they hatch! You're amazing for hanging in there with me. Thank you so much for all the help! I'm hoping to get into breeding show birds since there seems to be a high demand in my area for them. It's going to be hard selling these babies, emotionally anyways, everyone wants chicks out here:wee:wee

I have no clue I never had any experience with them before I moved here. The super sweet rooster and the hens mothering skills are what made me want a couple of my own. I've no clue where she got them or anything about them. I just take care of them for her since they live on my property.
I don't like hatching eggs in incubators, I keep a team of dedicated professionals to hatch eggs and brood chicks. They are called hens;). But I am thoroughly enjoying this thread. The way you present your experience is very nice and catchy. Hopefully you will keep us updated not only on further hatching experience, but also on how you raise those chicks. I don't hatch chicks but I do brood Cornish cross chicks for meat and also for market.

BTW silkies does not have best mothering abilities. They are just good sitters. They can't protect their chicks, they stay low in pecking order, they are not good foragers and they are not good teachers. Here is a picture of a hen with outstanding mothering abilities.

Good luck

Thank you for that! What kind of hen do you have there? Shes beautiful! I feel like I know the breed too, but cant remember. Oh well.:rolleyes:I've had broody hens in the past that were good moms. Unfortunately out of my 3 hens now, no one wants to hatch eggs, so if I want them I am forced to do so myself. Mother nature and her finicky-ness:p.

Alright folks I'm turning in for the night, I'm starting to see double. I'll be back in a few hours with more pics!! Just checked on the lone chick in the brooder. He found his way from the water to the food bowl and decided it was a good bed. I'm thinking he will be fine for a few hour .

I have 24-25 different breeds of chickens (one is not recognised by the APA) and countless dozens of barnyard mutts. I have many breeds that regularly go broody, but the best mothers are the Aseels and their crosses.
The hen in the pic is an Aseel. Maybe it is looking familiar because many western breeds like Cornish, wyandottes and Cornish cross were developed from Aseels. Here is an Aseel rooster.
