I need help sexing Button Quails

They are both females. The lighter one is a Ivory Pearl and the darker one is a Slate. On the Silver varieties the males would have pinkish feathers by the vent area. Both sexes crow. Actually it is not even a crow. It is more of a contact call. Only males make a windy type noise while puffing up their throats. I never go by bibs in Buttons only by vent feathers and windy noise.

Every one has been so very helpful here. Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you I'm still trying to figure out how to get around the site.Thank you for all your great advice in regards to Pittter & Patter. I called the pet store where I had originally purchased them to see if they could sex them know that they were a wee bit older. The guy at the pet store said they were both males and that unless i had separate cages for them they would fight. Is this right? I've been doing a ton of research and I thought as long as the cage was big enough 5 1/2 x3 they would be fine?
I was hoping if anyone knows of someone who lives in Western NY. I was hoping to buy button quail eggs. We've raised chickens but we thought as a family it would be a wonderful experience to see this little guys hatch from an egg.

If the vent feathers (the feathers surrounding the vent area) are not pink or red, they are not males! I would listen to buttonquailheaven, she knows what she is talking about!! You need to get you some boys!!

I am having to agree no pink feathers they are girls

Button quail should be keep in pairs so you need to get a pair of boys. They will be super happy then and you will have eggs that are fertile nothing more fun then baby buttons!

I use plastic bins for my buttons they are very happy one pair per bin. I even had one (from button quail heaven) hatch her own babies they are the cutest happy family

my female (10 months old) crowed until I got my new male (a month ago) I thought she was a male till she started to lay. but I haven't heard her do it since I put them together.

I was just reading on another site that males have a little bulb on their vent, that when you touch it, foam comes out. And everyone seemed to agree. A breeder tried to show me the bulb in the male and from what I seen it looked like it was a lite yellow bulb, about the size of a pinhead maybe. Hope that might help.
