I need help!

My 6 chickens have decided to fly over my electric netting and take off, I know, I know, what did I expect they are birds darn it! So now I need a bigger run to add on to my existing coop, which is not in the best condition or by a new coop with a large run. We are on a very tight budget and when we priced out how much to build a coop and run, it was more then expected. I'm attaching the run I found that I can attach to my existing coop. If anyone has any ideas, I am open to all suggestions.

If you've any carpentry skills at all it would be fairly easy to build. The materials for that run would only be a couple hundred dollars at most. Its just 2x4s, a roll of wire, and some paint.

What are your thoughts about the kits in stores?

It really is much more cost effective to build one.

The one you linked is just ~4' tall and less than that wide.
I would find those dimensions very frustrating to deal with.
It comes to a small 27 square feet. Barely big enough for maybe 3 birds.

We are a helpful community. I know we can help walk you through building something bigger and better.

Have you seen a hoop run?
They are very fast to build and take very very little skill.

You say your chickens are flying over the fence? Have you clipped their wing feathers? That might be a deterrent till you get some more run space. (some folks offer a good argument against wing clipping, as it is a decision with drawbacks) there are instructions for how to clip, can be googled.
Lots of times young hens still don't have their adult weight, but have their adult feathers. And they can get some pretty good height with them. Some birds are just built slimmer, as well. Less weight, better flight.
Or, as a stop-gap measure, can you add some wire or even string about a foot up from the highest fence wire? Or string strung across the top, to give the illusion of a wire ceiling.

Take a look on craigslist. This one is 300$ and comes with 100 ft of fence. I can't tell if it is a prefab or how sturdy, but you can always ask.
