I need some reassurance . . . UPDATE page 3

Original poster here. After calling the post office this morning and learning that the chicks still had not arrived and seeing that Marion received hers, I started to panic.

So I called Cackle to ask if they had a tracing number. Here's what I learned. They didn't ship them on Wednesday. They claimed that they called us on Wednesday and left a message that there was a problem and they won't be able to ship until 6/29.

This angers me for two reasons. First, I called them on Wednesday and they told me they were shipping that day. Second, no one left a message. So that is twice that I've been given misinformation by Cackle this week.

Mom2chicksandpups, in light of my experience, I agree with ChooksChick, give them a call. It's possible they didn't really ship.

Cackle called me on Wednesday and wanted to know if they could ship that day, I had only ordered on Monday afternoon and wasn't expecting to have them ship until around the 24th, I gladly said that they could go ahead and send them... and they did!

I am glad they didn't mess up on mine the way they did Young MacDonald's... I would have been freaking out AND ticked too!

Here is a picture of the "babies" I got today!

Marion, they are so cute! The one taking a little nap is just darling.

I wish mine were here too. When my husband brought the kids came home from camp this afternoon, they ran in the door, "where are they?" and I had to tell them what happened. My daughter actually cried - she's so sensitive.

Aww, I hate that your little one was disappointed! Waiting is hard for us grownups... imagine how it is for a kid! I bet they will be worth the wait though... fuzzy butts are so adorable and can put a smile on the saddest of faces!

GGGGGGGGgggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

I'd have had a fit to find out they were waiting until next week's hatch for your chicks- be certain to detail this experience in writing- politely and articulately- and send it to the management of Cackle.

Tell them you have detailed this experience to this forum of 35K chicken-enthusiasts, and that it would be great if they would give clear indications of how they intend to improve their internal communication so that this doesn't happen again, much less regularly, as it does now!

The same thing happened to me. I called them after the chicks didn't come several days later. They told me that they would have to try to figure out what happened and call me back. They called back and offered to ship mine on 6/29 also. They already charged my bank card $92. I told them to just cancel and send my money back. She tried to talk me into keeping part of the order, but I decided that I will try to hatch my chicks out of eggs instead. We just started hatching our own and they are so much healthier, not to mention that I am enjoying hatching them. It makes the mother in me come out.

As for writing Cackle, I have done that before and it did no good. All I got was an email from them making excuses. Last time I ordered from them, they didn't give me a ship date and the chicks just showed up in the mail when I didn't expect them. I complained and it got me nowhere. I gave them another chance because the chicks that I got from them are now my favorite 2 month olds.

A few weeks ago I was freaking out because we were having a heat wave, Cackle told me they were shipping my chicks on 6/17 and I didn't get them. I was worried they would die.

It turned out that they didn't actually ship them then. They gave me 6/29 as a new ship date.

We received them today!

It cooled off a lot over the weekend and we couldn't have wished for better traveling weather. All 15 survived the journey and are peeping away in their brooder.
