My girls have been laying for about a month and I have not eaten one egg. I have sold all of them, but neither my husband or myself can eat one. I did not eat that many eggs before I got chickens so it isn't really that unusual

,but I just can't do it. Is anyone else as weird as me? I am so proud to show off the eggs to everyone, and when they ask me how they taste, I just have to tell the truth.

Eat them! I'm sure they taste better than store eggs!

I tried my girls first lightly fried... yum! Last night I ate 3 soft boiled... oh exquisite!

Don't waste them on friends

at least not until you really have so many you can't possibly eat another and your freezer is full of quiche and cakes!

I'll admit. I did feel a little guilty at first, but that lasted about 5 minutes. haha. After all, you pay for their feed don't you. It's all a fair trade. What specifically is it that makes it hard for you to eat them? If it's because you think of it as an embryo or something, try think of it as a mere conversion of chicken feed to something new for YOU to eat instead. I'm sure someone else will have some better advice. Just my take on things and how I rationalize it. And man are they delicious!

Keep a dozen in your frig. Use them for baking and stuff.

No need to eat them, just to eat them.

When the wife tells me she needs a few eggs for her baking, I just tell her "well I will have to see if I have any for ya"

We get about 18 a day.

I have a hard time eating eggs too. And mine aren't even laying yet. Now that I"m hatching eggs and have seen the embryos dancing around in there it might be even worse.

Try just cooking them hard ( I never ever ever eat a runny yolk) and having an egg sandwich. A fried egg with a piece of cheese and inbetween 2 slices of toast... YUMMY!

Oh, and my mother gets on my case about me eating them, so you are certainly not alone. I mean, the whole reason (well not the whole reason, but part of it at least) I started raising chickens was for their eggs. She asks me... "HOW can you EAT them?!?!?" "Don't you feel bad?" I respond: 'NOPE'. But I do understand.

Technically it isn't an embryo.. it is an ovum... a delicious ovum... lol

You only get an embryo and then a chick if it is fertilised and then incubated.

The amount of times I've had a conversation with friends about how is it possible to get an egg with no rooster... usually I ask (to my female friends) if they still produce an egg when they don't have a boyfriend... OLOL!

I see my relationship with my chickens as a working relationship....I feed and care for them and they gift me with beautiful eggs. We nurture each other in that I feed them and they provide food for me with their eggs. Totally cool I think.

I haven't eaten one in I can't remember how long, though I bake and cook with them. But the eggs by themselves, no. I just haven't wanted to eat eggs since I got this batch of chickens. No idea why.
