I Never Knew Bobwhite Quail Were SOOOOOO Beautiful!!!!

Aww, they are pretty! And what a nice photograph you took of the wild boy.

I also wanted to know if you had any pictures of your prairie dog. I had a few as rescues, though they are illegal in Mass, and they are so awesome. I really enjoyed them

I just hatched 2 bobwhites about a week ago - I set 12 eggs I got off ebay and 3 hatched but one died shortly afterward

I have no clue if mine are M or F yet - I am really hopeing I have a pair but what are the odds of that happening LOL

how soon can I tell the sex of these babies ?

I plan on trying bobwhite eggs again once I find some for sale.

I have northern bobwhites, and Georgia Giants in the incubator.

I have one colony (5 females, 1 male) and I'm always smiling when I see the male on the nest keeping the eggs covered.

I love the calls they make, and wish I could release them. We're not allowed to here.
I originally had 2 males in with 5 females, but suddenly one of the males went bald, (more like scalped) so I had to take one out.

The "Blonde" Bobwhites are called Mexican Speckled Bobwhites. I only a few of these and they are beautiful. Only not as big as the other Bobs I have. Here is a picture of a pair...

And I purchase what was called Georgia Giants from one breeder and then some Tennesse Jumbos from another. I have not weighed them, but the TN Jumbos are bigger and seem less aggressive honestly. I need to try to figure out a way to weigh them I guess. LOL

Here is one of our TN Jumbos from last year....this year I have a whole new generation...

I am hoping to have eggs available in a few weeks. Only the TN Jumbos are laying right now - and a few from the MS Bobs, but I need to build that herd first.

I just love to hear them call in the evening.
