i officially hate fourth of july

I'm with you. It was like a war movie around my house until we joined the city a couple years ago. Now they're illegal and it's much quieter. And I'm not terrified that my house will burn.

Imp- Right now I pleased that Seattle has not had any summer yet cloudy 58* and showers. Perfect 4th of July weather.

Sorry your animals are scared. My old dog used to be terrified of fireworks. I put her in the basement in a crate so where she couldn't hear them very much.

I, on the other hand, am now hating on the 4th because the grump next door yelled at me for letting my kids have sparklers. Sparklers, for crying out loud! Not bottle rockets, not anything else, sparklers.

I am no fan of July 4th personally, just because I am also somebody who can do without the noise and fire danger. The fire thing scares me because Sacramento's ONE natural (or man made) disaster that is very dangerous is fire. My brother got a bunch of firework stand things for the kids, and they are enjoying themselves, so that's fine.

Some people set off m80's nearby and that's when I locked my girls in the coop. My dog and cats don't seem too bothered. I am an early bedtime kinda girl though, so it's going on 10pm and not able to sleep yet. All I care is everybody is SAFE. No drunk driving or drunk fireworking! My chickens seem to do fine since they've been in the coop, which I am relieved about. But yeah, I could do without fireworks but it's only 2 or so days out of the year so I can bite the bullet and ride it out

We just had Canada Day and none of my animals were bothered by the fireworks. The pony was cool as a cucumber, the goats were fine, chickens and ducks everyone. Probably because for half the year they hear gunshots for the hunting seasons on neighbouring land.

We live 2 blocks from the city park where they set off the REALLY BIG stuff. It booms so loud and echos back from the ridge that is a good putt away from us. The only downside is all the people who park along our road/property to watch the show.
Nothin like sitting on your back porch to watch it though

Didn't hear any commotion from the coops, and my scardy-dog only whimpered a little coz we made her stay in her crate. Last year she sat on the back porch and watched with us. When she was a puppy, while other people were desensitizing their puppies to cars, I took her down to watch the TRAINS instead

Luckily the animals and chickens are fine with all the neighbors setting them off....but..they are doing them right now. Its almost midnight!! Kind of late isn't it?!?! the one is the neighbor that is maybe 15 feet from us, and they set them off in the middle of the street which is stupid too.

Here with all the reservations, the really big stuff is available to everyone. And bigger is better right. So I can see it and feel it shake the house, but at least it is about 8 blocks east and 10 blocks south of me. Love it, doors and windows are open so I can see/hear it, but it's not going off over my house. Pets are OK, except one noise terrified stray cat that's hiding under the coffeee table. It's known for spraying, so it better behave or it's cat for dinner.

The two ferals haven't shown up for a meal in about a day and a half.
The last couple nights someone was using really loud stuff, I'm thinking dynamite leading the police in a merry chase. Last night I drove by a house with a destoyed fence and yard, with no tire tracks. Hmmm!
