Call and/or leave a message in your box letting them know you're expecting an order of chicks, the date(s) they may arrive, your # and please call as soon as they come in so they can call you right away.

Great time to get chicks... and they'll probably send you some male packing peanuts.
I got mine the end of April last year and wished my coop had been finished sooner and that the chicks would have been here in March... that way they would have been grown and laying by August.

I know what you mean, I ordered last year the end of July. Just as they were ready to go from brooder to coop, it was starting to get cold. And I didn't get eggs until after Christmas. I figured I get a head start on it this year
Ideal will ship 7-8 packing peanuts (males) for the person that ordered 18. The heavy assortment are most likely any of the color variations of Plymouth Rock, Orpingtons, Australorps, Sex Links, Delaware and Sussex, according to MM's website.
It looks like I will have plenty of company to raise my babies with - my ship date is the 25th to arrive on the 27th.
I ordered my babes in January to ship in Feb to be sure that I got what I wanted for birds. A number of breeds are selling out or sold out. I wanted to place an order for turkeys for a friend this week and they were all sold out.
This might have been addressed but most rural, local PO's are excited to receive chicks - my Postmaster will call us at 5:30 to let us know that the chicks have arrived.
Maybe I should add five more pullets to my order and try to sell them. That might be better than getting a bunch of boys I can't get rid of. Unless the boys might make OK fryers. Do you know what kind they usually send? Or is a complete tossup?
The problem I have w/ordering too many chicks(girls) w/the intent to sell is that last time I ended up keeping all of them.
I was going to place an order today but 2 of the breeds I want are sold out till april. I want my order for the end of april. the computer will not let me do anything but get on a waiting list. anybody know what I can do. I do not care when they ship, I just want them to come together.
