OK.

I served to protect your freedom just like I served to protect Kevin's and all others that are citizens of this nation.

I do not view the pledge as religious, however I will say the "under GOD" part because our fine country was founded on the belief in Him and because I believe God should be one of the center focuses of the US. Sometimes being politically correct is not correct.

ETA: If those religious groups are not saying the pledge of allegiance, they can simply leave out the part that offends them. I will not even begin to guess as to which religious affiliation refuses to recite the pledge of allegiance. However they should state their allegiance to our country since they are in the country, using our resources, participating in our economy and "hopefully" paying taxes.

Have you read what the Founding Fathers have said on the topic of religion? It's pretty great.

And for a lot of the people that don't say it due to religion it's because their religion forbids them from pledging themselves to anything other than God.

I seem to recall the pledge happening every day when I was in high school-I stood, did not salute or recite-and I know it also happened every morning at the elementary school I worked at.

Highly appreciated.

I pledge allegiance to the founding principles of the United states of America, not to the republic for which is stands (what?), one nation (divided into states), under God (Yup, a god of your own understanding, not mine or theirs), indivisible (yeah sure), with liberty and justice for all (yeah right, I wish).
