Darkkit sadly wandered back. He was worried about her, then brightened. He had a plan. He whispered it to his siblings. "Mother, you look ill, you should go stay in Rainshadow's den. Maybe Tanglepelt can take care of us? He needs more excitement in his life than yelling at apprentices, he's going senile. He'll probably feel younger once he gets kits around though, bouncing around again."
Darkkit was shy, but could be a convincing speaker when he put his mind to it. Apprentices may have feared Tanglepelt, but he provided hours of entertainment for kits with nothing better to do.

Lightkit bounced with excitement. "What are we gonna do?" Thinking of something to cheer up her mommy was far better than worrying about her sickness.

Darkkit bounded over to Tanglepelt's den. "Mommy says you can watch us if you want! She's sick, and we are concerned. And having us around might be.... wholesome for someone who yells at apprentices for fun."

(I think I'm having too much fun playing Darkkit.)
 
Tanglepelt glowered and took a deep, raspy breath, ready to start a long rant.Before he could begin, though, the kits came bounceing in. Lightkit went right up to him and snuggled in. Speechless, Tanglepelt froze for a moment, then awkwardly patted the kit on the head.
