"You should be, it killed two of my clanmates and that was facing around 20 cats!"

"I can swim fine thanks!" Willowfern laughed and jumped at him. Her paws hit him and she pinned him down.





Silverwing nodded and asked Icicle if she wanted to go.

Sprucetail jumped up suddenly, gently tossing her off of him. He leapt nimbly into the river and splashed her with a sprinkling of water.

Willowfern jumped into the water and splashed into the water. She laughed and splashed Sprucetail.

Nightpaw stood up, her tail tip twitching. "My mentor is dead," she murmured. She sat back down

"We can get you and Fluffypaw a new one," Auburnstar said gently.

Fluffypaw stood up and mewed, "Flamepaw went with Dropspring to find Emberfeather. They are both gone for now. I hope you can understand why they left." He felt a weight lift from his chest, and he looked at the shocked faces. They had guessed Flamepaw was not serious.

"Oh," Auburnstar said. "I am disappointed in them, but there is nothing we can do now. At least Flamepaw isn't alone, she could do something rash."

Icepaw looked over, "That's no excuse, me and Galefeather already finished the nursery." He mewed angry she thought she had the right to say that after all he had lost.

"Don't worry, we can get her new mentors," Auburnstar repeated.

Flamepaw ran out and leapt free from the barn. She ran Dropspring following. "Luna!" came her surprised mew. She was with a tom that looked exactly like Grassfrost...

Dropspring bristled. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?" Luna, I haven't forgotten what you did.
"Watch out! Rats!" Large rats were following, ready to attack. As they saw the group had multiplied, however, they dissipated.

Icepaw glared at her and mewed, "He is dead, so what? I lost my mothers and sister, that's all I care about right now!" He hissed and lowered to the ground. He flipped his ears back and drew his lips in a snarl. He narrowed his eyes and prepared to jump at Nightpaw.

He leapt and pinned her down. He slashed her face and clawed at her. He bit her foreleg where the fox got her and she went limp with pain. He kept on going.

"Icepaw! It isn't ok to attack another cat!" Auburnleaf shouted.

"We can't afford to weaken anymore. We need to be strong as a clan and not fight amidst each other!" said Rustpaw.

"Yes!" Auburnleaf said.

Softkit stared at him. She scampered over to Gingerkit and Darkkit.

"Hi, Softkit," Darkkit's greenish greyish eyes were still forlorn. They were slowly turning from blue to amber over time.

"Icepaw! You didn't listen!" Auburnstar scolded. "You must be punished for this, but you are injured so you cannot do work either. No cat attacks another because the other doesn't have a mentor! Since you are so struck with grief, and your mother is not here, arrest yourself to the apprentice den to think about your actions. Come back tomorrow morning. Sadness is no reason to rip our clan apart."
She turned to where Nightpaw and Fluffypaw left. "Now, Nightpaw and Fluffypaw need mentors. Since this is a sudden warning, I would like to ask for volunteers to mentor them," she adressed the warriors.

Falllingrain stood up and yowled, "Auburnstar you have seen what grief can do! Punishing Icepaw is unfair and cruel!"

Silverwing stood up, "I'll volunteer to mentor Nightpaw!" She yowled out with agreement to Fallingrain as well.
