"I used to be a kittypet," she began. "Though I can't justify her actions, I understand why she left...I can sympathize with her..."

Silverwing looked at her and mewed, "Do you ever feel like you want to go back? I would miss you, but I miss her to... She was always so tough, but she and Emberfeather always shared secrets... I think she might be soft inside her shell. The fox attack must have broke her..."

Icicle sighed. "I do want to go back. But I can never go back."
Silverwing seemed confused, so Icicle explained.
"I remember my twolegs well. There was one young one who loved me the most. When I was just a kit roaming the thunderpath she found me and took me in. We were together some years. It was wonderful and she was so kind. She took care of me and my kits like she was our mother. Until..." Icicle trailed off.
"One day she left, and never came back. The big female was crying and male twoleg threw something at me. I couldn't find my kits anywhere. So I ran away."

Silverwing looked at her and curled her tail over paws. "You've had it hard, maybe we needed to know each other..."

Icicle nuzzled Silverwing.
"I'd be glad to know us both better," she said. "I miss my kits and I don't know where they are...either all grown up as kittypets or loners, or even Clan cats and have forgotten about me...but most likely dead. You have had a rough time yourself. I am proud to call you my honorary daughter."
