I promised terrie, but...I got it!

Many drug companies are now offering help to people who cannot afford medicine. Contact the drug manufacturer directly and let them know you need their product and have no way to pay for it . They may have a program that either reduces the cost to an affordable level or may possibly even have it for free. Best wishes and good luck...dont give up the fight till you have tried all the options.

I'm so sorry to hear this. You hear so many people saying that same thing about their meds! My good friend has fibromyalgia too, and I see what it does to her! It just doesn't make any sense at all! I mean, even if they would pay the out of formulary price, it would help some. But to not pay anything, thats horrible.

I pray you can find a solution to this problem. You don't need to be in pain, especially, if there is something out there that works for you.

APPEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can appeal an insurance companies decide just like a lawyer can a courts decision, but it doesnt end at one. APPEAL!!! You cannot exhaust you appeals. Not with insurance. As long as you fight, they have to respond. And once it gets to an arbitrator, you will win/

Well we picked up the substitute drug at the pharmacy last night. It was called in as the generic. All the way home it bugged me because I had never heard of this med. before. I used to work as a prescription nurse for a group of surgeons, so I know meds. pretty well.
All the accompanying paperwork said was that it was primarily a anti-seizure drug and this concerned me because I am already on one anti-seizure drug and have been stable on it for years. Anytime the doctor has tried to change the dosage on that drug I've had really bad reactions. Still, the pharmacist said that it was safe for me to take another anti-seizure drug.
Got home and looked it up on the computer. Neurontin! Wish someone had told me that before they called it in, I woulda told them not to waste their time!

I was on neurontin back in the 90s, before it went generic. It not only doesn't help, it causes new problems. I don't know how it will interact with my other anti-seizure drug (trileptal), because I wasn't on the trileptal before.
I'll give it a fair trial, maybe two weeks and I'll be raising cain with somebody again.

Thanks for all the support. It means more to me than I can say.

They won't help me because I do have insurance, even though the insurance won't pay for their drug.

I'm not sure but I heard that Costco Pharmacy was a lot cheaper than the others. They have an online pricing that you can look up. Might be worth a look.

I'm sorry your going through this.

I think I remember you saying your DH is a PO, right? Is your insurance through him? If so, maybe his HR/Insurance Admn can contact their contact within the insurance company. I had some problems getting denied for legit claims last year and told our Ins. Admn., they called their Ins.Co. contact and my claims were taken care of.

Just thought of something else. My coworker was having problems getting her DS's prescription filled, since it's a controlled substance. She kept fighting and eventually she got it worked out in about 4 - 5 months.
