I don't know- this is my first time doing this. I have a feeling that if mama doesn't kick them out if the nest, they are probably still viable.

I think my broody Jersey is about to quit those eggs and we are so close. She came out of the nest today and I had to chase her back in after about an hour. This is the second time shes done that.Fortunately I have a silkie who went broody a couple of days ago so I set her up on the all 12 of the eggs while the jersey was out of the coop. I split the clutch into 2 and placed 6 eggs under each bird so hopefully Ill get at least 6 to hatch one way or the other. The silkie is just too small to cover all 12 eggs or I would just let her do it all.Im new to this and have to say this has been kind of nerve wracking in some ways. Next time I try this I think I will stick with just silkies. That jersey giant is a sweet bird but kind of has a short attention span.

my broody is a chantecler, who went broody last spring, then quit halfway through, so i gave her eggs to a broody brahma, then when the eggs hatched, tried to give them back to the chantecler who said "no thanks"... the brahma's other eggs never did hatch, so she raised the EE and white Cochin chicks. The ee turned out to be a male, and we gave him away, and the cochin died in a rainstorm... i don't know why she didn't go in the coop... so we're trying again! delawares and mottled java... or speckled sussex, i forget.

She's beautiful!!! ...went to check on my broody and I saw an egg poking out of her butt fluff about a quarter way. First time I've ever seen an egg sticking out. I hope bad eggs haven't been rotated in and ruining other eggs...
