I got her from a co worker, heard over the cubicle wall...
..."We have to get rid of the dog".
I went over and asked "What dog?"
She showed me a pic and went like

Why did they have to get rid of her?

Maybe just give her a little toilet that's just for her. She obviously needs a lil cute toilet like this.

Oh gee, missed this....it's quite a story.
Young couple, got married, got a dog, had a baby, not as much attention for dog, had another baby, even less time for dog....gave the dog to me.
Couple years later I moved out to the country,
dog was kinda bored with no neighbors to watch.
Meanwhile couple had gotten another dog, and had another baby,
so I got a companion animal for my companion animal.
Those 2 dogs were best buddies right from the get go.

Eh, typical dog then kid story.
They, especially he, was great with the dogs...
....I got them at 3yo and 10mo and they were both pretty well trained.
At least they realized the dogs needed more and found them a new home.

Thats how I would describe Duchess: pretty well trained. She knows a lot of the words but doesnt always respond to them. She gets frustrated very easily and then nips and jumps. She's often afraid to leave the porch because she's fearful of being locked outside. Sometimes I have to put her on a leash JUST to get her off the porch to do her business. Then shes happy-go-lucky. Some mornings it is a struggle to get her to go to the bathroom. She might go poo before breakfast but will not pee until after and often only on the leash. She has a lot of fear and trust issues. I'm hoping she will get over it in time. In the mean time I'm trying to be patient and understanding with her. When shes fearful I have her touch her nose to my hand and then I pet her and tell her how good a dog she is. She's very odd but she has clearly been abused. She just has to learn that we are not those people and we wont hurt her ever. I feel so badly for her and it makes me sad every time I see her put her tail between her legs and her ears back. No dog should ever feel that way

These dog had some issues, but nothing like yours, they were never abused...
...just not totally compliant.
Only fear factors was Mags with thunderstorms and open backed stairs,
we got over both of them pretty quickly.

Duchess kinda picks and chooses when she will be compliant. She is getting a lot better but she still has problems with outside. Shes had two accidents in the past month...only large and the other small...urine only. Shes very good about pooping outside. Pee is always a different story for her. Illness has been ruled out so its just behavioral. The most positive thing about this whole experience with her is that its teaching my SO patience. I used to work with the mentally challenged so I have a LOT of patience lol
