I really like my chickens

I just like my little fluffy friends. They are sweet and silly and happy and peaceful. I expected to enjoy getting my own fresh eggs, but did not know how much I would enjoy the chickens themselves. I’m hooked.

I love chickens too. I think they are fabulous!! I missed out on too many years not owning chickens.

Hopefully, you'll have your girls for a long, long time. Just wait until you have hens who have outlived some dogs. You just have no idea how much you can love a chicken yet, but you will! I have some who are 8, 9, 10 and going on 11 years old now. They are amazing creatures. I'm happy you're enjoying them!

Well, it has its drawbacks as well as rewards. Old hens have old age issues just like old people do. Arthritis is the main one I see. But, they have served the family so they can be here until whenever the end comes. But, my oldest was laying from last November through April this year! And she can't even walk from arthritis. She's a tough gal, though. Nobody messes with Amanda! She can deliver a good resounding head thunk from a sitting position, trust me.
