I was sitting, writting a letter with a massive head ache when the tone of the Today show changed. I looked up, hollard to Mom and the first words out of her mouth were, "Terrorists". No, this is America, no one can hurt us.
They did.
And then the second plane hit. We saw it, the world replayed that sceen. Then the other plane crashes happened.
My good friend was on a plane, waiting to get home from VA.
My Nephew, he is a Airforce man, sitting on the tarmac, waiting for his plane to bring him home to Maine...2 years away from home left us relieved when planes were grounded.
It touched the world, every one of us knew of someone that was hurt by this, we "knew" someone that was killed, didn't go to work, or ran into the building to save those that needed help. Watched men and woman screeming for their lives.
Saddness is what the day 9-11 represents to me, but then again, pride for those that went in to help the families in need. Even for those in Gangs that came forward, viewing each other as brothers in a time of need. May God bless and hold us in his hand, bring light to see through the lasting heart ache and to realize that not all should be judged by the color of their skin.
(I have a 7th generation woman in my family that is Saudi/Lebonese she is the mother of 1 beautiful 3 yr old -great-nephew and another on the way. She cannot travel without a white person or they will pull her and her family aside to search and question them. )
