You explained this much better than I could, but bottom line is: not all homicides are criminal and charges are not pressed in non-criminal homicides.

No, it's just inflation. Also, films cost a lot more to produce these days then they did when a ticket cost $1.25. There are better theaters, better projectors, better sound. If movie tickets still cost under $5 everyone in Hollywood would go out of business.
 
That still doesn't explain why, when the theater is only half full you still can only watch the movie once.

Incidentally, Gone With the Wind was released in 1939 and is still one of the most gorgeous movies ever made, in my opinion. New and improved is rarely better. (Also my opinion
