I Remember When...

I remember when you could go to the movie theater whenever you wanted. You paid your $1.25 and went in without waiting in line. An usher with a flashlight might even help you to find a seat. If you came in at the middle you could just wait and watch the part that you missed. You could even stay and watch the whole movie a second time if you wanted to. You did not die!

I remember taking my 2 children ages 8 and 10 to a movie in the afternoon and it was so good (the first star wars) that we all wanted to stay and see it again. My mother was living with us at the time and I knew she would worry if we didn't come home. So, I asked the usher (who was all of 16) if she had a phone so that I could call home. She looked at me as if I had 2 heads. I told her to let this be a lesson to her that it didn't matter how old you were, that you would always have to call home and let your mother know what you were doing. The more things change, the more they remain the same.

I'll never say my age...except that I'm a bit older that most.

I can remember taking my (now) wife to the movies and a
hamburger for $5.00

I remember Captain Kangaroo and Howdy Doody on black and white TV and 5 cent icecream cones.

I remember trasnversing the 98 hill in Vietnam.

OK...just kidding. I do however remember life before cell phones and internet. Cartoons that didn't have hidden sexual meanings and when it was OK to drink water from the tap.

I remember when penny candy was really a penny!! My sister and I would ride our bikes to the candy store and each get a huge bag for 25 cents
And does anyone remember Captain Noah? Ohhh, and Kimba the white lion?

I remember when we could look up in the sky and see clouds. Now there are so many grid patterns that we could play tic tac toe.

I remember when driving meant DRIVING not driving with one hand and talking or texting with the other.

Have not been to the movies in years. The cost is insane and the behavior of other movie goers ruined the experience far too many times.Got a big screen tv and stay home now!
