I saw a man beat his dog! Help!

I have been known to "help" a dog or kitten get lost. Report the b again and if the opportunity presents itself, drive by with a yummy treat, open your car door, and drive off.

Is this man from the Quincy area and the abuse involved horses? If it is, I know that man. The whole situation just broke my heart. She was a woman who worked hard and did the best she could. I don't know why she stayed with him. It still makes me want to cry when I think about the whole thing.

Yes you got it the one in the same. Our office had been on that place here just about 40 some days before and removed eight horses. One of the foals infortunley (sp?)

did not make it. It had more of infection that could be fought off with medication. All the others are doing very well.

We did not have the worst of his animals in our county though, he had bought property in 3 other Missouri counties where the poor horses were in terriable shape. :thun Charges on those cases are still pending I believe.

Any way just keep a helpful eye and ear out for the animals because they can't write out complaints for themselves.
We have to speak for them.

That would be one of my suggestions, is offer to take the dog off his hands.

The other would be to call the Humane Society again. Make another complaint. Sure it might be a lie, but only a half lie. I'm sure he's beating the dog still, you just did'n't see it this time. I won't say anything if you don't

People make me sick.

It makes me sick at my stomach to think of the abuse this little dog has suffered at the hands of this monster. I also pity the horses and any other animal that has come in contact with him. It is sad but true that most people whom abuse animals, abuse people too.

Make formal complaints with every official in your city, county & state. Call the State Atty's office. My state has someone in the capital that takes care of these matters. Call the Humane Society and/or shelter and/or animal control officer. Write a letter to the newspaper editor. Our local TV station has a news tip hotline. You might try your local TV/radio station.

I don't deal well with people like that. I would have demanded he give me the dog or I was going to tell on him. That's always works for me.

As suggested in a previous post, Sometimes, you have to steal an animal for it's safety. Just keep quiet and don't tell anyone what you have done. Yes, you can lie to protect them.

God Bless the animals and you too for trying to protect them.

Some of you folks are as bad as the man beating his dog. If it's ok in this situation to lie, steal the dog, encourage to lie, encourage to steal the dog, make repeated blind complaints your as bad as he is. Oh, yes you are. Then the next time you don't like how someone is treating thier animal. When it doesn't meet YOUR standards there's nothing holding you back from doing the same. We don't need dog owners like him and equally we don't need folks stealing dogs, lieing, making false complaints, etc. etc because of some percieved injustice to an animal. You can justify it but it's wrong, as wrong as what started this thread and moreso cause you know it's wrong no matter how much you rationalize the wrongness away. Keystonepaul

I'd like to clarify...my son didn't steal the dog. The other young man beating on the dog was someone he'd known his whole life. My son and he worked together and had the dog at work with them every day since he was a pup. This was not the first time my son had witnessed it happening, but it was getting worse as time went on. That day was the final straw. He told his "friend" that it wasn't going to happen again and he was taking the dog home with him. His friend said you can have the @#&^ cuz I'm gonna kill him. I'm quite certain even if he hadn't agreed my son would have some home with the dog,,,one way or another.

Katy, I didn't take it that way at all. I'm all for someone being upfront and direct and legal.

Sundown, if you reread the posts some folks most certainly did condon making false reports. Calling the next day to report abuse because it has to happen day after day, despite only seeing it one day is making a false report. I don't think you can sit back and not be critical of anyone that condons criminal means to an end even in the case of an "innocent animal". Keystonepaul
