I set eggs 2/27/10 ** DUE 3/20th-3/21st** WE"RE HATCHING!!!!

Don't give up. We have seen miraclous things happen here on BYC. One person I know, her broody was outside, and she decided that she would "fly the coop", LITERALLY! The broody was off for hours and it was 36* outside and the woman found the mama and the eggs, brought them in the house and they ALL hatched. TRUE STORY!

But remember, because this happened, the eggs may be a day or 2 later than the original day. But don't give up, prncssprplfrog.

Sorry to hear that, but I'm glad you plugged it back in. You didn't kill your babies, so stop thinking that way. We've all dropped eggs, or flashlights on eggs, or had unbelievable temp spikes/drops, you name it. Accidents happen. Our attention gets pulled away for a fraction of a second, and disaster may strike. So please stop beating yourself up. You don't even know for sure it has had a negative effect on the eggs yet. They may still make it. And if they don't, next time it will be something you are aware could happen, so you'll double check, or just not unplug the bator. I dropped my first egg ever with this hatch. On my very first hatch, I had a 113* temp spike. It doesn't make me a killer, any more than you. It makes us human darling, and we are flawed, and we learn from our mistakes. We'll all keep our fingers crossed for you babies, and you might just get surprised by them yet. All is not lost. Keep hope in your heart, and we will keep it in ours for you.

Thanks everyone. I know I'm not alone, but it still makes me sad. I had to take out my cochin egg that waved at me last night and check it. I think I might have seen some movement, but I'm not counting on it.

I put all of the eggs in egg cartons this morning so that I can just pick the whole thing up, take them to the bathroom where there is no light and candle them there.

It's been a hard new year with my dad passing suddenly, a few friends of mine have had mother's that have had strokes, and I just found out that two other people I know passed away this weekend. It has all left me rather fragile.

I have to remember what I tell my students: it's all good; as long as we learn from our mistakes, take it in stride & keep moving forward, we'll make it through another day.
Just need to take my own advice....

Oh- and you guys help quite a bit too!

All the chicks from this hatch have been sold

Hubby is taking his silkie hobby seriously. I still told him that we don't know how many are going to hatch but he's insistent that this one guy will take every one he can get from us

He actually wanted 3 dozen chicks.........
