I set eggs 2/27/10 ** DUE 3/20th-3/21st** WE"RE HATCHING!!!!

Day 18 for me tomorrow. I added 2 dixie cups of water and topped off the water in the bottom of my LG bator. It doesn't seam humid at all in there and no I haven't got a hydrometer because I have no money to buy one. Is it normal not to seam humid? I am pretty nervous, need to get my brooder pen done in case I have any babies hatch!

I think I spent $10 on my hydrometer/thermometer at Fleet Farm..... a worthwhile investment. Make sure you have the holes plugged.

If you see moisture, then your humidity is too high. Open the vent plugs when they start hatching. They need the extra oxygen for hatching.

I'm on Day 12. Most of them are developing nicely. I have a few clears that I'm going to pull today. Of the 7 BBS Orps, I quit (blood ring). But the other 6 are developing great.

for a great hatch for all of us.

Good luck Fordmommy! Do you go into lock down tomorrow?

I ordered direct from Brinsea. I believe i placed my order on a Thursday and I had it the following Wednesday, give or take a day. So I thought it shipped quickly! That's from Florida to Wisconsin.

I'm still loving the Brinsea. Manually "turning" the eggs couldn't be easier. Still, I think I'll upgrade next year and get the cradle so i'm not tied down to the bator over the weekend.

I had to add some thin strips of sponges to get the humidity up for lockdown, but otherwise, that little machine has been a cinch to use. My house is really dry this time of year.

Crossing my fingers the hatch turns out. I'm on day 19 today.

**UPDATE**

I threw out the last two from my 2/27 set last night. There was a slight odor coming from the 'bator yesterday & I wasn't sure which ones were bad. My sense of smell isn't that great & neither is my son's, but he picked out the ones that smelled & we threw them out in ziplock bags. Once again I didn't have the nerve to crack them open.

I'm down to 4 set on 3/6 & my 8 Maran's set on 3/10. Is that a small enough gap in time that I shouldn't worry about seperate incubator?
Especially since the 3/6 was part of the 6-8 hour unplugged ordeal.... even though it was at the beginning of the 3/6 set...

Definitely get the auto-turning cradle! I just picked mine up yesterday and ran it last night to test it out before I set my eggs this morning at 9:30. I don't know how I lived without the cradle before! Manually turning is easy in the Octagon 20 - but who really has the time to turn more than 3 or 5 times a day? The cradle turns it on an hourly cycle. It's very neat, and I want these eggs to hatch so very badly!

I candled my shipped eggs last night while I was setting up the new 'bator and getting everything ready for this morning. Out of 12 eggs (I paid for 6+), I had just 1 broken air cell. The rest look great, I have high hopes for this hatch!

My 4 duck eggs are all chugging right along - they're getting huge, but I can still see them "dancing" around in there! March 30th's the hatch date for the ducklings, April 6th for the shipped Bantam Cochins!

I am ABSOLUTELY addicted. I sold 4 babies yesterday for $10 and I went todat and bought 9 more babies for $10. The ones I bought are BLRW. I did it since out to the 8 hatching eggs I got, only 3 are in the bator. And then who knows if they will hatch. I bought them from another BYC memeber near me. Well-45 minutes away. And they are the same age as the ones that just hatched. So they are all together.

And babylady4------THANK YOU!!!!!! Many times over. Remember, when you do get that farm some day, you got free chickens coming!

I'm thinking since I set on the early afternoon of the 28th... I'll be due for 'lockdown' on Friday afternoon. Found my old hygrometer, calibrating it now.

Thinking if I can get enough parts tomorrow (just need a thermostat and pc fan), I'll have a separate hatcher ready to go so I can set another batch of eggs... Hubby got more orders for silkie chicks...... Had a local ask for barnyard mutts today.... No one wants the ones at TSC! Gee..... I'm going to be swimming in chicks!
