I set eggs 2/27/10 ** DUE 3/20th-3/21st** WE"RE HATCHING!!!!

Well one. It hatched this morning early on day 20. No movement from the other eggs - how long is it normally from the 1st to last chick and how long should I wait before removing this one? I'm all discombobulated.

You are only on day 20. Don't fret. They can be 3 days late too.

Here's the fuzzy butt that hatched last night under the broody. And when I went to get pics, I found this little guy trying to come out! I also heard peeping coming from the incubator eggs too.

This is a LeFleche cross - I think mom is an EE.

Question. My egg's went into lock down today (day 19) but my humidity is 70% is that too high? I kept it low during the last 18 days by putting minimal water in the wells but I knew I wouldn't be able to open the bator for 3 days so I filled all the wells and put a wet sponge in there should I open it and take the sponge out? Please help this is my first chicken hatch.

arbuckle murphy.....I put my humidity at about 65% for lockdown. Once they start hatching, the humidity increases. But you have 3 days until hatching, so maybe it will decrease to 65% by then. You certainly don't want it any higher, or you risk drowning the babies.

Kayla.......beautiful chick, and very big!

This'l'do........leave the chick in there. It will chirp and help the others hatch. (a cheerleader of sorts) I wouldn't remove it until 2 days after hatch. They just absorbed their yolk sac, so they don't need food or water for a while.

I definetly don't want to drown my babies I only have 11 egg's in there and I'm only sure that 6 are viable egg's. Should I open it and remove the sponge to try and lower it or is that not good either? I would still have water in there I have an LG and I filled the wells when I put them in.

I would leave it for now. My friend that just hatched my other eggs had her humidity up to 88% and they did just fine. I was worried but it was okay. I have mine at 60% and am very saticified with that.

My humidity in the bator was 57% this morning, which in turn made the temp increase above 101. Monitoring temp & humidity during lockdown makes me crazy!! I had time before the eggs arrive to get the first 18 days figured out, but had no way of practicing Lockdown phase.

I had to let some heat out while also adding a little more water to a dried out sponge. I hope I didn't make a mistake by opening it . But the bator stabilized pretty quickly so I am hoping it's okay. It's probably a good thing I'm at work today!

I'd leave it. Chances are by the time they start hatching, your humidity will be around 65% anyway. You have 3 days before they start hatching anyway. When they start hatching it will go above 70% and that's okay. To clarify my previous post, you wouldn't want to START at 75 or so at hatching and have it go way too high once they start hatching. I hope that makes sense. I have it clear in my head, but don't know that I'm getting my meaning across right.

Also, if you just added the water, it will be high at first, then even out.
