I set eggs 2/27/10 ** DUE 3/20th-3/21st** WE"RE HATCHING!!!!

I am up to 11 chicks out of 14 eggs that made it to lockdown. The others all hatched yesterday. I'm starting to wonder about the 3 left. They all had obvious movement before lockdown, but no pips or anything yet. I'm feeling a little better now, so off to work I go. I sure hope we have some more pips when I get home.

I go into lockdown with the next set tomorrow.

Broody has a pip that's screaming bloody murder. It's Mayhem's egg, one of my ee's. She lays a green egg, the roo hatched from a light brown egg so this one will stay to see if I can get a 'olive' egger. Really excited to see what that chick looks like, crossing fingers it's a girl.

Set another 2.5 dozen silkie eggs last night in the cooler bator. As soon as the foam bator that I'm using for a hatcher right now is empty I'll be setting more silkie and mutt eggs. (more of Mayhem's eggs too!)

13 pips and an almost complete zip

good thing I put windows in this hatcher

Day 22/23:
17 have hatched, plus a pip, out of 20 eggs that went to lockdown. No news on the last two green eggs but I bet they are just slow.
The "on time" hatchers are now starting to eat and drink

All except the 2 questionables and one mutt have pipped. And .... we have 2 baby silkies:

One took almost 2 hours to zip and hatch, the other... 10 minutes. Both look blue but I'll wait until the completely fluff out to say for sure. (splash roo over blue black and splash hens) One has pink tips on it's toes!
We have a third trying to start zipping.

I know my Cochins I set on Tuesday are going to be hatching way after all the rest of you on this thread are done, but I wanted to share my news of the day:

Of my 11 shipped eggs that went into the 'bator (it's Day 5 now), 7 are definately growing and have healthy veining!

3 are clear

, and there's 1 that's questionable, and I don't think it's "normal". I didn't remove any yet - I'm waiting until next Tuesday (Day 7) to toss the clears/questionable. I didn't have the heart to do it quite yet. I know it's unlikely that they'll do anything at this point, but I just have to give them until Day 7.

The ducks are doing great - I can still see them all moving around in there, and it won't be long now until they're so squeezed into the eggs that I won't be able to see anything but a big, black blob - which is fine with me. Lock-down's in one week, and we're getting close!
