I set eggs 2/27/10 ** DUE 3/20th-3/21st** WE"RE HATCHING!!!!

There is 1 I don't think is going to make it.

Just had our first chick hatch! Hooray for #19!

There are 2 more that are not far behind.

This morning I have 2 chicks.

The first one, I finally broke down and helped it out, after 24 hrs of no progress at all -- this is a mutt layer for the neighbor not breeding stock so I figure it's ok. It had pipped the wrong end of the egg without ever getting its head out from under its wing, and was well and truly wedged in there, and if I had not helped it, it for SURE would have died, so, <shrug>

There are 7-8 eggs left with no pips yet

, but it's only day 20 so I suppose there is hope. At least I seem to have two chicks so no singleton problems.

Total of 19 out of 23 that were put into lock down, though 2 of those were questionable anyway.
17 silkies and 2 mutts.
Broody has taken in all of them and is trying to take a 3 week old as well.

Oh no...

I just set 4 more duck eggs, due April 18th. Good thing I got that second 'bator, because I have staggered hatches happening all over the place now!

I still have no pips??? I set mine on the 28th though so I am hoping there is still some hope that some will hatch????
