I despise brooding chicks so I keep reminding myself that ~every chick I hatch has to be put in the brooder~!! That quickly ends my desire to load up that bator!!
If I get myself organized a little better and get some additional pens built.... well... I could easily see myself going nutty hatching chicks!

i set eggs on may 28th, hoping you won't mind if i join. i had the same situation rooster was killed and couldn't stand the fact that the eggs were going to waste when i was going to set next month. plus my brother in law would like some chicks so i figured i'd try for him. i had read the hens remain fertile up to 3 weeks after the rooster is removed. this is my third hatch of this year. i've set 33 eggs this time, i usually have about a 75% hatch rate hopingfor better this time. good luck all
