just to keep you posted on the crows…
someone threw out cheese doodles for them today.
there were like 10 crows in the tree with cheese doodles hanging out of their mouths like big cigars. 😂

also, can anyone tell me what the noise that chickens make means that sounds like a laser gun under water?

Well that is a challenge - I have never heard a laser gun under water!

If you want to see crows and chickens alike go nuts (and probably even the cat and dog), grill up some beef and toss it out.

Our chickens came up to the grill like dogs begging for meat.
Yep, they’ll stalk the grill for roast chicken too. Here are mine demonstrating the technique…

neither have i, really, but i don’t know how else to explain it. it’s coming from thelma. it’s usually when she’s sunbathing or relaxed. it’s sort of a high pitched synthesisery sound, but also gurgly. it’s new. i was just wondering what it was about 😂

lookit those cuties! nice grill, too!
this is good to know because i was feeling guilty when cooking chicken thinking they can smell it and that they’ll think they’re probably next 😂
Oh they can smell it, and come running! Someone mentioned tossing the chicken or turkey carcass out to them to watch the antics, but I don’t want my knuckleheaded dogs to get it.

Like a purr? Mine do that when relaxed and a very similar but deeper sound as a warning of danger.
We need a video with audio!

another thing i was wondering about, if someone wouldn’t mind sayin… i read about pecking orders, but does that ever change?
louise is definitely the boss. she’s mostly grumpy and sometimes really mean to sweet thelma. but i saw thelma stand up to her a couple times and i just wondered if it ever happens that the bossy one backs down and the other one takes over? probably not, i would guess.
i have seen louise peck thelma on the head for stealing a snail, and then literally jump her and peck her head, but today they were scratching around near each other… maybe even a foot or so away from each other, and for what seemed like no reason, louise took a really hard peck at the back of thelma’s head. almost a bite, it looked like. i sometimes wish thelma would give her a good thump and knock her back a notch.

i’ll try to catch her, but i never know when she’ll do it. she’s only just started doing it. it’s really cute, but takes me by surprise! i don’t think she exactly knows what sounds she’s supposed to make and she’s just winging it 😂
