Pics
By the way, mine send alarms about squirrels on occasion, and often about crows when they mean hawks.

It usually sends a couple of them scurrying for cover before they realize it was false.
squirrels are terrifying! i don’t blame them one bit!😂
we have soooo many crows, they aren’t phased.

can you see louise there in the front? she sorta blends in. and sort of right in the center is my crow friend, edward scissorbeak.

Do tell the story. You have great storytelling skills!
ok, so, besides building a polytunnel cage, i have been building my new greenhouse (not the easiest thing i have ever built 🤯) so i was out there with my husband, and the chickens are ba-gawking. i look and see the cat in the tree next door. you can see in the pic of the million crows, the wall that divides us. it’s probably 6feet on that side. but the tree sort of overhangs onto our side a bit.
this is the crows tree.
they don’t have a nest there, but a whole lot of people throw their bread out for the crows, and they bring it to this particular tree.
when they eat the bread in the tree, it almost always falls into my side, and the chickens go sprinting to get the bread before the crow can get it back. it’s almost like the crows do it on purpose. like a game. but probably not.
anyway, that’s irrelevant but not really.

the girl next door has a little dog who has a yippy bark. and the cat.

the girl was trying to get the cat out of the tree. she was doing her best.
the dog was yipping like crazy and the chickens were bagawking.
the cat went higher in the tree and saw a crow and started trying to go for the crow.

all the crows came and started circling the tree and squawking at the cat.

the dog’s still yipping, chickens still bagawking, girl saying “shut up dog!” and “come here, cat!”

i got the chickens to go into the polytunnel with some mealworms and closed them in. i sat there for a minute with them going shhhhhhh. it’s ok.
and they got quiet! but they were still trying to peek out to see what was going on.
when they were calm enough, i said to the girl… is there any way i can try to help you? i have a broom here? or i can squirt her with the hose?
she said go on! squirt her!
so i did. and the cat came down, the dog stopped yipping, the crows went back to their crow things, and i let the chickens back out who just pretended like nothing ever happened, like they tend to do! but they were suspiciously quiet for the rest of the day 😉

the end.

Oh I love that picture.
Mine pay close attention to the crows because the crows pay close attention to the hawks. The crows are great at seeing off the hawks so I give them peanuts as a thank you.

they like bread too! lol! no matter how stale. they will dunk it in the birdbath like tea and biscuits to soften it up enough to eat 😂

do you ever get presents from them? i have gotten a couple. i was giving them my bread too until the chickens became my responsibility and i didn’t think it’d be responsible of me to let them gorge themselves on bread. the crows are pretty annoyed about this.

i’ve never seen a hawk around here. wonder why! lol!

Love the dunking! Crows are very smart creatures.

the original owner of thelma and louise, lives across the street and a few houses down. his property faces a big field. my other neighbour saw him earlier and said that he has to keep his chickens in the run the whole time he's not out there with them because he can see the fox in the field sitting and watching. all day!
having chickens is terrifying.
i'm gonna have to fix this polytunnel situation asap so i can have some peace. 😵‍💫
