He was a lonesome lil' solo chick. I just set it next to the brooder plate and he snuggled right in!aww herman! i'm sorry for your loss of him.
may i ask how you introduced him to the mom pom?
did you just put it where he slept at first?
I'm convinced that the only thing "consistent" about chickens is how they consistently throw monkey-wrenches into whatever you're told or think you know about them. Zheesh! Two of mine are also young, a year in August, but she’s dropping feathers right and left. I also thought they didn’t molt this young, I guess she didn’t get the memo![]()
When I scramble eggs for my chickens, I scramble the whole thing ... shell and all!Absolutely, they love scrambled eggs. You can even add broken-up egg shells to them (yum, crunchy scrambled eggs.) Also boiled eggs.
Mine love cat food and finish what the cats leave. But read the ingredients, cat food is surprisingly low protein.I’ve heard that those wet cat food tins work well for protein also. A friend of mine saw some clearances to 25 cents and scooped them all up for her chickens as treats!![]()
i'm lucky if i can find layer pellets or chick crumble. if i had cows instead, i could get them anything! lol! would scrambled egg do in a pinch?
I give my chickens always chick feed too as a choice. It has more protein and less calcium. It’s perfect as a base feed when they moult.i've been just offering both with oyster shells on the side
I have a moulting chicken without a tail. This funny looking situation lasted for a week or so. Her tail start to grow back visibly now.i am so glad it's not just her! i was getting worried because everything i was reading was saying later!
