If you have chicken eggs to spare consider selling a few dozen to help with the cost of clothing. When I go to the thrift store I look for the bargains. Maybe you will be able to meet some one who will be able to give you a ride. Or try to get a voucher for the needs. If you are in school you may want to go to the councilors office and ask if they have any scholarships for clothing. At school it is fun to create a swap. I love to trade for the things I need. Growing into a adult is hard for parents it means one of there little chicks are ready to leave the nest. It is hard for Mamma not to keep her little ones under her wing. I hope you have also considered the cost of insurance and fuel that it costs to get from point A to point B. The cost of living is enormous now days. Good luck and don't give up on all the possibility of problem solving.

You sound like quite the determined young lady~an admirable trait. If you have some blue or grey slacks, get some RIT fabric dye (it's in the laundry section of the grocery store or Wal Mart) and dye the pants black.

My husband was in that situation when he was living at home, his dad wont drive him to work and he was roughly a few miles out from a country town but almost an hours drive from major cities. So what did he do for a job that he found five miles away, he rode his bike for 4 months to save up for a car. He got the job end of April, went thru rain, and heat.

If you are close enough to ride a bike, you can do it yourself by going to work. It would be tough but you would save the aggravation of asking your mom or your friends can not do it. How far are you from your work?

I think you are awsome for wanting to get a job. There are too many kids that think mom and dad should take care of them forever. If you were closer I would help you. I agree with everyone else. When you do get money hit the thrift stores. I always buy clothes for work there. Especially when I worked at Walmart. We had to wear khaki pants and navy shirts. I wasnt going to pay alot for something I wouldnt wear outside of work. Now that I work at a feed store, the same I dont want to pay alot for clothes that can get stained and grungy from lifting feed sacks and greasy farm equipment.

Here's what I've got worked out: I called my manager, she said wear khaki pants and any tennis shoes I have. I'll be inside until I can get the uniform, but that's okay because I'll make 7.25/hr while I work inside - when I start being a car hop I only make 4.25/hr plus any tips I get. Thanks everyone - I will definitely be hitting some thrift stores. I know my mom must have her reasons, but she can really be mean about stuff >.> I'm a good distance from work, but I have some rides arranged for the next week.
