My inlaws did that to us several times while we lived in the same town. They live under the notion that what ours is theirs.. The final straw for me was when I had to go somewhere and they offered to babysit, which they only did if we made reservations three weeks out with them. I should have been suspicious but I took them up on their offer only to come home and our shed had been rearranged and our brand new tiller was loaded in the back of his truck. I let it slide not wanting to cause a riff (since I am ALWAYS to blame from his side of the family) They returned it 2 weeks later after another uncle had used it for his garden and broke it. They of course did not offer to fix as with family goes. I refuse to let anyone even drive my car to this day. I feel your pain.
