Which is to say ya got me beat by a country mile! I"ll take my shorted-out stove ANY day!

And I was cooking because I genuinely LIKE to cook. Since we don't DO holidays except for solstice, I haven't had the opportunity to really cut loose since Thanksgiving and I was already tasting that turkey, all 23 pounds of him! Yeah, you're right, there's only the 2 of us but I really like turkey....BIG turkey....that I can eat for days and days!

Right now the stove is in pieces all over the kitchen floor, but knowing my honey, it'll be working great again if he has to rebuild it from scratch. Hopefully I can hold the turkey one more day and roast it tomorrow.

I wonder if the cheesecake will last that long....it seems to be shrinking....little nibble here, little nibble there.....

Happy Birthday! (whether you like it or not!) lol

Why is it life's little bumps feel like a broken axel when they hit on a "certain day" that was supposed to be PERFECT!!!???
Hopefully you can run to a friend's house and put him in their oven? Can't EVERYBODY be cooking big on the day after Christmas, now, could they? Time to call in a few favors I say! Good luck. Keep us posted.

I didn't even mention my stove issues because I didn't think you would all believe me after my previous list. Son and I cooked mini quiches. Some of the pans bubbled over a bit and reacted with something previously spilled. We had a whole house filled with smoke. Hubby scrubbed the stove so we wouldn't have problems when we cooked ham on Christmas. Evidently, there was still some residue. The house again filled with smoke. Since there was no fire and it looked like whatever it was was slowly burning off, we just let it go. We opened a door and a window and let the smoke clear out. Of course it was about 20º here so that was entertaining. Eventually it was fine and we were able to cook our ham while wearing extra sweaters and waiting for the house to warm up.

As for my other disasters, we have shut off the ice maker for now, $500 fixed the VW, the Ford is on craigslist as a parts car and we may have a buyer. We were able to get a used washing machine from a local thrift store for $90 delivered. The roof...well...it's still cold so no more leaking yet

If it makes you feel better I actually have people die on my birthday. Last year it was my nephew, this year my grandmother. I'm hoping it's a trend that doesn't continue. Unless of course I didn't know the person very well and they were very very rich, and leave me a boat load of cash.
