So I was gong to wait until 6 - 8 weeks, it was even marked on my calendar.

But our mystery chick is developing comb and wattles way more than the others. And I found out, and told my teen, that bantams - we are guessing white cochin bantam - are sold as straight runs, so 50-50 not 90% chance pullet.

The local FFA kids apparently do not treat their birds with respect, so she doesn't want to give it to them. So she broke down sobbing.

So - is this a white cochin bantam, and do you think pullet or cockerel?

Aw man ...the comb looks less red in the picture. It's red at the base.

I expect it's too young. We have seen some aggressive behavior, holding out wings and running at the other birds. Which is hilarious, since it's half their size.

From a behavioural stand point, it could still be a pullet. Our older Silkie hen would do that to the chicks (not her chicks) to keep them in line while free ranging in our yard.
