I'm kind of disappointed as I actually wanted RIR, but I'm keeping them as I'm curious to see what they look like when they grow up. I went to Tractor Supply CO (only thing near me) yesterday and made sure the bin I was looking at was RIR. There were 7 black chicks (that I bought) and I chose a brownish one with lighter wing tips.

I'm fairly certain the brown one is actually a RIR. The black ones, I think accidentally got put in there as there was a bin labeled "Asian" right next to them with identical chicks (I believe). The chicks look identical to these one:

However, their legs aren't black (orangish?) and their feathers don't change color under light.

IDK what they are at this point lol. I'll take a second look when I get home.

I'm betting they're the Asian blacks. The chicks don't have feathers yet, they're down, so you can't go by that. Leg color can change some as they age, and add in that the Asian blacks are basically a made-up mixed breed, you'd expect variables like that from bird to bird.
