It's great you have a techie husband that can make HenhouseTV. The cops will want a original copy of the footage but make sure we can see it too.

Having a look at that guys coop is probably a good idea but have a cop with you.
Sorry your dog passed. It sounds like you need one around to help guard your home and family. Go to a shelter and see if they have a suitable one. A grown dog is likely to be a bigger help now.
Or try the water puddle and hot wire.

If you do a bucket of something put a dye that stains in it. That way maybe you can g find the person or the police can. I like the big hole idea. Could break some bones that way. I also think, if you have it in your heart, it is time to get another big dog.

My DH thinks dye in the buckect, too. Something like hot pink.

Oh, by the way, he said our neighbor had at least 12 car horns hooked up to the battery alarm!!!

It is so sad to have someone violate you space and take what you love. I am so sorry!

A camera will be great to catch the perpetrator, but you may still end up losing birds. If its a minor, Im not sure what they could even do to them. I dont know how close your coop is to your house, but a bright motion detector light is often enough to scare someone away. They dont know if someone flipped a switch or what. Surrounding the coop with a strong electric fence can be effective too, especially if you sleep with your window open.

I hope you don't lose any more birds.

warfrost......so very smart and diabolical. I also like the post about the dye in the bucket of goo. If he/she breaks bones when falling in the hole that was dug then just fill it back in.

This is a crazy funny post but soooooo very scary. Catch the -------!

I live in Mississippi and I know that sometimes we tend to do things a little different from the rest of the world, but #4 buckshot in a 12 ga. Shotgun can be very effective. If someome came on my property in the middle of the night I would be more concerned for the safety of my family than anything else. Just because they are only stealing chickens now doesn't mean they won't do worse later. I have learned to trust very few people and to shoot 1st and ask questions later. I may sound mean, but my family doesn't worry about their safety because most people leave us alone because they think I'm crazy. In this day and time that works for me.

i think you should get a gun and use salt.. hubby was caught stealing a watermelon when he was little with his dad when they went camping and the farmer let loose with a shot gun with salt.. those poor guys had mom picking out the rocksalt.. no real damage but it melts and stings like crazy lol
