I think my chicken has a cold, what do I do?

The
first line of this article is:

Chickens do not suffer from the Common Cold. Your bird may have one of many upper respiratory ailments, such as Infectious Coryza, Infectious Bronchitis, a CRD, or perhaps some other form of respiratory distress including bacterial, fungal, or viral infection. But chances are, they don’t have the Common Cold.

.

I keep trying to tell people this and they just will not hear me. VetRx will help them breathe; it's like Vicks VapoRub for chickens.

at its best VetRX will only provide possibly symptomatic relief and will not treat what is causing the congestion.
Get yourself someOXINE to mist and also use as disinfectant when your flock has a respiratory illness...
Camphor is listed as being toxic to birds and personally I would not use any product with that as an ingredient.

Exactly what I was trying to say, but didn't manage very well, Diana, LOL. And ditto on the Oxine, good stuff, I hear, better than bleach at killing tough germs.

I'm a diabetic, so my ultra fine syringes will work great. If my birds don't get better by tomorrow, I'll try this. Thanks

Thank you, very much for the advice I am to go with this method as these are my first chickens and I do not want to medicate them at this point. I like using ACV for myself for other things and the garlic and pepper well I hope that will do it's part. So I am off to get the vapo-o-rub and I think I will have an unhappy girl tonight but a healthy girl in a couple of days. Again thank you and I like the Human Noodle Soup joke, LOL

I have a flock of about 400 and I would say about a hundred of them are wheezing. Hope I can fix it without having to use the injection method. Will try the vinegar in the water

Just out of curiosity, how did things work out? This is my first year with chickens and soak up all the info I can get. Reading about others experiences is some of the very best information. Thank you Trish.
