I Think Our Chickens Might Be Spoiled, What Do You Think?

I have a little banty hen who lost her hatchmate to a coon real young and she was so traumatized that we kept her inside for a while.........turned into forever. We keep her in a bird cage at night and she stays outside in the back yard until we get home from work. Then she comes in and watches tv with us until 11 pm or so. Sits on my shoulder of the wife's all she can. In the am I take her out of her cage and put her outside where she poops and then comes back in as I stay home till 10 am or so. She has her own chair and sits there. She seldom poops in the house and if she wants out she starts yelling at me. Oh.... if that doesn't work she will crow! And she lays a egg a day....so she is a hen. The crowing really surprised me at first,But after actually seeing her crow now I just laugh.

Most of us refer to that as the "Egg Song". She's trying to tell you that she either has, or is about to, lay an egg! It's the sweetest song I know of!

ETA: Spoiled chickens? Where? I don't see any spoiled chickens! All I see are birds who are shown how much they are loved!

Wish I could get away with doing that but DH would have my gutts for garters!

This goes to show how amazing the bond between us and our animals can be. When I was in college, I had a guinea pig that I would take every where. We would go to the park, go on nature walks and she would always stay with me following right on my heals. So precious!!

Those pictures are so cute!

I wondered why everyone else had such sweet chickens and mine were so feisty - now that they're laying they have really calmed down and two of them actually seem to like being held.

But I already have a cockatiel that poops on my pillow so the chickens have to stay in the coop!
