It's a rooster. I've hatched tons and tons of EE/RIR chicks. The roostes are a nice dark red like that. The hens are orange.

But thats just my personal experience.

I agree with potterwatch. We have 4 hens and one roo that are 3 months. Our roo has a way bigger and brighter comb than this one. The tail feathers may make it questionable so I would wait and see. My money is on a hen.

That's a tricky one

i would say hen by the size of her/his crown and her/his build. But i could also bet on her/him being a roo because of the curled tailed feathers and long legs, although i raised a leghorn with super lanky legs that ended up being a pullet, but leghorns might tend to have lankier legs? i'm hoping for his/her sake that it's a hen so she/he can stay with you
