I can honestly relate. My co-workers don't understand at all. They swear they will never come to my house because of the chickens - - They were more understanding of my potbelly pigs than my chickens. GO FIGURE !

I think it is the best thing I have ever done for my children. They are 12 and so love this chicken thing. We haven't gotten the first egg yet - but it has been a very satisfying hobby!

They aren't barred rocks, they are australops. Whew...we can't have any roos unfortunately.

Beautiful little Aussie's! I want to add some of them to my flock someday.


My family and some friends just laugh at me. So I didn't even tell them I was incubating again. I hatched out 10 chicks 2 days ago, and I never told my mom and dad. They already think I'm crazy.

So I went from 15 to 25 chickens, just like that!

Odd because my male barred rock looks just like those chicks,odd. You think the reaction to chickens are bad, try telling your family you have snakes and breed rats for the said snakes!

I'm called the chicken lady and the pickle lady around here. Most know me by those names too.

I agree, although I'm getting hubby into it too. This morning I said...let's go check on the chicks and he jumped out of bed as fast as I did!! LOL!!
