I think they're going to start calling me the "Crazy Chicken Lady"

Don't worry, my entire town thinks that I'm now the "Crazy Chicken Lady"! We don't have any limit on how many we can have (which I found out after I ordered them), so when I got a "mistake" order my gang grew from keeping 22 to 40! No idea what I'll do with all of the eggs, but I just couldn't part with them! It probably doesn't help that when people ask me why I got them, my answer is "So I can love them!"

So don't worry, you're in good "Crazy Chicken Lady" company here!!!

I just told my friend that I picked up two more. I know that 11 is not that many compared to some...but if you saw our little residential situation it's pushing the enevelope. They have plenty of room...it's just that...well they have all the room! LOL! My friend just laughed and laughed...she thinks I'm nuts. But they were too cute to pass up. I wanted to pick up some sexlinks too...but I resisted. See...one CAN sometimes resist...just as long as SOMETHING is coming home! LOL

Oh and I should mention that with 25 chickens I now have, only 5 are laying.

Hoping my wellie's start soon though. ETA: So I now have 20 free loaders!

Chickenmama,

I too live in a residential neighborhood with 1/2 acre and my neighbors think I'm downright weird because I spend daily time seeing to my chickens. I don't care though. I'm happy, my kids are happy and dh is happy. That's all that matters, isn't it?

I work every Friday night 'til 9:00. I have supper from 4:30-5:30. To save time, I order something from the Italian Rest. next door, 'cause I *HAVE* to come home and take care of my "ladies"

True! We have one friend who has chickens and even she thinks I'm weird. I asked her about her EE birds...and if they always made that quiet little sound in three's (hard to explain in type) and she just looked at me and said "I don't spend as much time with my birds as you do. I have no idea!"

But as you said...we're all happy here, and that is what matters!
